For many Calgarians, the Christmas season officially starts at Spruce Meadows. Every November the show-jumping grounds in the city’s deep south become a European-style Christmas village, with wooden stalls, fire pits, carollers, food from a dozen countries and hundreds of vendors in heated halls. It’s been a tradition since 2001, and last year it drew a record crowd of more than 100,000 shoppers.
For 2026, the market grows to four weekends: November 13–15, 20–22, 27–29 and December 4–6, and adds adults-only Friday evenings with a pop-up cocktail bar. Here’s everything you need to plan your visit.

New for 2026: Adults-Only Friday Evenings
From 6:00 to 9:00 PM every Friday, the market is 18+ only. If you already have a Friday ticket and you’re over 18, you can simply stay. There’s also an Adult Night ticket that lets holders shop early during the all-ages hours. Pair it with Miracle at the Meadows, a Christmas pop-up cocktail bar created with Calgary’s Proof cocktail bar, for one of the better date nights of the season.
What You’ll Find
More than 325 vendors fill European-inspired outdoor huts, indoor shopping halls and heated tents, selling handcrafted gifts, holiday décor and specialty foods. Look for the Spruce Meadows Exclusives logo: those vendors carry items you can only buy at this market. Food runs from international Christmas market favourites to local food trucks, chocolates and sweets. Opening night has traditionally included a tree lighting.
Know Before You Go
- Dress for outdoors. Much of the market is outside and it runs in any weather. Wear warm boots.
- No pets. Pets are not allowed on the grounds during events.
- Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome, but Spruce Meadows doesn’t rent either.
- Photos are fine for personal use. Professional shoots need advance permission.
- Go early or on Friday afternoon to avoid the Saturday crush.
Getting There and Parking
Spruce Meadows is at the far south edge of Calgary, off Highway 22X just west of Macleod Trail. General parking is included with your ticket. Accessible parking is in Lots 7 and 8 for vehicles with a valid permit. There’s no shuttle listed for 2026, so plan to drive or take a ride-share. On Saturdays, expect slow traffic on Spruce Meadows Way near opening time.
Accessibility
Major walkways are accessible, though snow and ice can affect outdoor areas. Accessible washrooms are located throughout the grounds, and personal care attendants get in free.
Make a Day of It
- Come back in December for the lights: Spruce Meadows’ walk-through Enchanted Festival follows the market.
- Another big market: the Millarville Christmas Market runs November 5–15, about 40 minutes southwest.
- Downtown market: the new Calgary Winter Market at Eau Claire Plaza opens November 19.
- Evening plan: finish at ZOOLIGHTS, open nightly from November 13.
