For decades, the answer to “where can we see Christmas lights from the car?” was Spruce Meadows. That changed in 2025, when the Spruce Meadows drive-through was replaced by the walk-through Enchanted Festival. Here’s where to drive instead.
Lions Festival of Lights
Calgary’s best drive-by display: 40 years of lights along 14 Street NW in Confederation Park, free every night from November 21, 2026 to January 8, 2027, 5:30 PM to midnight. See Lions Festival of Lights.
George Lane Park, High River
High River’s park is lit nightly from 4:30 to 11 PM from December 4 into January, and you can view it by car or on foot.
Neighbourhood Displays
Use the Lighten Up Calgary map to plan a route past the city’s best-decorated homes, including the Legacy community in the southeast. See Calgary neighbourhood Christmas lights.
Why Did Spruce Meadows Stop the Drive-Through?
Spruce Meadows said the drive-through’s popularity created traffic and safety problems beyond what its roads and the neighbouring communities could handle, so it moved to a ticketed park-and-walk event.
