Want the dog in on Christmas? Here’s where pets are welcome in Calgary this season, and where they’re not.
Dog-Friendly
- Lions Festival of Lights: an outdoor public park; walk the displays on a leash.
- The Enchanted Festival: the Paw Pass is back for 2026 (December 12–23), with free Pup Cups at the Cocktail Cabin; proceeds go to Parachutes for Pets.
- Neighbourhood light walks and outdoor tree lightings.
- Pet photos with Santa: pet stores and some malls run pet nights with Santa; check your local store in November.
No Dogs (Service Dogs Welcome)
- Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market: no pets during events.
- Millarville Christmas Market: no dogs in the market area.
- In Search of Christmas Spirit, Banff: no pets.
- ZOOLIGHTS: pets aren’t allowed at the zoo.
Cold-Weather Care
Paws freeze fast on salted, icy paths. Use booties or paw balm, keep walks short below –15°C, and never leave a dog in the car.
