Some of Calgary’s best Christmas lights aren’t in a festival at all. They’re on houses, from single over-the-top yards to whole streets that coordinate their displays.
The Lighten Up Calgary Map
Each year, the Lighten Up Calgary map plots standout homes and streets across the city, and Tourism Calgary links to it from its lights guide. Use it to plan a route through one quadrant at a time.
Legacy Christmas Lights
In the deep southeast, the community of Legacy lights up with more than a million lights through December and into January, with a rink in the green space when the weather allows. See Legacy Christmas lights.
Plan a Self-Guided Lights Drive
- Start at the free Lions Festival of Lights on 14 Street NW.
- Pick one quadrant from the map so you’re not crossing the city.
- Bring hot chocolate in a thermos and the Christmas playlist.
- Drive slowly, use your hazards when stopping, and respect residents’ driveways.
Want to Walk?
Try the Airdrie Festival of Lights or ZOOLIGHTS.
