Theatre Calgary’s A Christmas Carol is the longest-running holiday tradition on a Calgary stage. Geoffrey Simon Brown’s adaptation of the Dickens classic fills the Max Bell Theatre with snow, carols, a terrifying Marley and a Scrooge who finds his heart just in time for Christmas morning.
The 2026 run is November 26 to December 27, 2026 at the Max Bell Theatre in the Werklund Centre (formerly Arts Commons), downtown.

Is It Good for Kids?
Yes, for most school-age kids. It’s a family tradition for a lot of Calgarians, though the ghosts can be spooky for very young children. At two hours with an intermission, it works best for kids around 6 and up.
Getting There and Parking
The Werklund Centre is on Olympic Plaza in the downtown core. The City Hall and Centre Street CTrain stations are a few minutes’ walk away. Nearby parkades fill before evening shows, so leave extra time if you’re driving.
Another Christmas Carol
Want something different? Lunchbox Theatre’s A Christmas Carol Radio Play Live runs December 1 to 24, 2026, at cSPACE in Marda Loop, a shorter take staged as a live 1940s-style radio broadcast.
Make a Night of It
- Market before the show: the Calgary Winter Market at Eau Claire Plaza is a 15-minute walk away.
