All you need is a sled and a little snow. Calgary has dozens of hills for tobogganing, plus a proper tube park with a lift.
City Tobogganing Hills
The City of Calgary designates official tobogganing hills in parks across all four quadrants; they’re checked for hazards and are the safest places to sled. Look up the current list on calgary.ca before you go: popular choices are in large parks like Confederation Park and Edworthy Park.
WinSport Tube Park
At Canada Olympic Park, the tube park has groomed lanes and a magic carpet lift, so nobody has to drag a sled uphill. In 2025 it opened on December 20, just in time for the school break. See WinSport at Christmas.
Safety Tips
- Use designated hills only, away from roads, trees and fences.
- Go feet first and one rider at a time.
- Helmets are a smart idea for kids.
- Check for ice: early-season hills can be hard and fast.
