Eau Claire Plaza at Christmas 2026: The Big Tree, Winter Market & Skating

The rebuilt Eau Claire Plaza on the Bow River has become the centre of Christmas in downtown Calgary.

The Tree and Lights

In 2025 the City installed a 40-foot Christmas tree, a forest of festive trees, a glowing polar bear and wreaths at Eau Claire Plaza, free to visit and one of the best photo spots downtown. We expect it to return for 2026.

Calgary Winter Market

New for 2026, the European-style Calgary Winter Market fills the plaza Thursday to Sunday from November 19 to December 13, then daily December 15–24, with 40+ huts, a heated Brauhaus Tent and a carousel.

Skating

The Prince’s Island Park lagoon is a five-minute walk across the Jaipur Bridge when the ice is open.

New Year’s Eve

The City held its 2025 New Year’s Eve celebration here, with fireworks from Prince’s Island. See New Year’s Eve in Calgary.
