Christmas Tree Lighting Events in Calgary 2026

Tree lightings and town light-ups are how Calgary and the surrounding towns flip the switch on the season. Most are free, family-friendly and come with hot chocolate and a visit from Santa. Here’s every one we’ve confirmed for 2026.

Spruce Meadows: Friday, November 13

The Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market opens with its annual tree lighting and Santa’s Cozy Corner. Market admission applies.

Light Up Okotoks: Friday, November 20

Up to 20,000 people pack downtown Okotoks for the 34th Light Up Okotoks, 5:30 to 9 PM. Free.

Lions Festival of Lights: Saturday, November 21

The 40th Lions Festival of Lights switches on at 5 PM with a special guest. Free.

High River: Friday, December 4

George Lane Park lights up at 6 PM, followed by High River’s Santa Claus Parade at 6:30. The park stays lit nightly from 4:30 to 11 PM into January, with a pop-up skating rink once it’s cold enough.

We’re waiting on 2026 dates for downtown Calgary’s Eau Claire Plaza tree (a 40-foot tree with a forest of lit trees in 2025), Cochrane’s Light Up the Night on historic Main Street, and Airdrie’s holiday kick-off. We’ll add them here.
