Light Up Okotoks is the night the whole town switches on Christmas. Downtown Okotoks fills with up to 20,000 people for one evening of lights, music and festive fun, making it one of the biggest small-town Christmas kick-offs in Alberta.

The 34th Light Up Okotoks is Friday, November 20, 2026, from 5:30 to 9:00 PM, throughout downtown.

What to Expect

The Town says full 2026 details are coming soon. In past years the evening has included the official lighting of downtown, live entertainment, food, shops open late and a visit from Santa. We’ll update this page with the 2026 schedule, road closures and parking as soon as the Town posts them.

Getting There

Okotoks is about 30 minutes south of Calgary via Highway 2 and Highway 2A. Downtown streets close for the event and parking fills early, so arrive before 5:30 PM and expect to walk a few blocks.
