Just east of Calgary, Chestermere kicks off the season with its Winter Lights Festival, lighting up the lakeside parks with displays, entertainment and, in recent years, fire spinners.
What to Expect
The festival is a free community evening, traditionally centred on John Peake Park by the lake, with the lights switched on, family activities, hot drinks and a visit from Santa. The lights then stay up through the season.

- December Christmas Market: December 12–13, 10 AM to 3 PM, at the Rec Centre.
