Watching Elf or It’s a Wonderful Life in a theatre full of people is a different experience from watching it at home. Here’s how to see Christmas movies on the big screen in Calgary.
Movie With a Live Orchestra
The Calgary Phil plays Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas live to the film on November 27 and 28, 2026 at the Jubilee. See the Grinch in concert.
Classic Holiday Screenings
Each December, national cinema chains bring back holiday classics for limited screenings, and Calgary’s independent cinemas run Christmas favourites and sing-alongs. Check listings from late November.
Christmas Day at the Movies
Most Calgary cinemas are open on Christmas Day, which is one of the busiest movie days of the year. Book ahead.
